Aflatoun International enables children to make a positive change in their lives and in their communities through social and financial education, with the aim of ultimately leading them to breaking the cycles of poverty and inequality. Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, our innovative programme is currently implemented in 115 countries and in 2014 reached 4 million children from 3 – 18 years old.
Being involved in Aflatoun inspires children to discover their talents and develop their abilities, standing up for their rights and those of their communities. They learn how to save, how to budget and how to establish a range of enterprises that benefit themselves, their families and their neighbourhoods.
Fundraising Intern
We have reached an exciting period in our development, and are looking to grow our income over the next five years to widen our reach.
The Fundraising intern will be an integral part of fundraising’s operations, preparing targeted research profiles and gathering market intelligence to facilitate the growth of Aflatoun’s income generation potential. The intern will undertake specific projects to grow the portfolio of donors, in partnership with other members of the team, utilising the Salesforce database to manage prospects. In addition, s/he will work with grantmaking organisations, corporations and governments, enabling the Aflatoun programme to operate globally.
Key projects to be delivered over the duration of the internship:
· Develop a dedicated research function, focussing on major prospects for Aflatoun International
· Creating a programme targeting mid-level donors from foundations and corporate prospects
- Coordinate a major donor event in Amsterdam and associated activity
Additional tasks
· Assisting with institutional funding proposals and reports as and when required
- Fundraising administration as directed by the Head of Fundraising
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Student enrolled in or recently from a Bachelors or Masters program
Ability to work in small team with motivated, multicultural co-workers
Fluency in oral and written English. Fluency in Dutch is also highly desirable.
Strong computer skills, including sound knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience of working with databases is desirable.

· Monthly stipend of €495
· Training and regular supervision, participation in seminars with a focus on professional development for the successful candidate
