ADVANCE UK: Non-Executive Director
We are looking for two Non-Executive Directors to join our Board
- One individual with audit/assurance experience to eventually Chair the Audit Committee;
- One individual to preferably have social care, regulatory or safeguarding expertise
A decent secure home, good support and a job
These are the things which our 4,400 clients – mainly people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions – have told us they want. Advance aims to meet these needs by providing support, housing and employment services through a not for profit, social business.
We are seeking non-executive Board members who can fulfil these ambitions and ensure that we make the most of the opportunities open to us.
It is important to us that the Board reflects the communities that we serve and we are therefore particularly interested in attracting younger members and those from BME communities.
One of those appointed will have an audit/assurance background and be able to Chair our Audit Committee when the current post-holder’s term of office expires in September 2016. The second appointee should preferably have expertise in social care, safeguarding or health related regulation.
All candidates will need to have a real empathy with the work of Advance, good business and communication skills and be willing to commit around 12 days per year attending Board meetings, strategic and stakeholder events. Board meetings are normally held in rotation between Oxfordshire, Leicester and East London.
These posts are remunerated. Board members receive remuneration of £3,000 pa with the Chair of Audit attracting remuneration of £5,000 per annum.
If you are interested in applying please request an application pack from Di Denham at Advance by e-mail via the button below and submit your application by Friday, 6 May 2016. Interviews will take place in early June 2016.
If you would like an informal discussion prior to applying please contact Di Denham on 01993 866380 to arrange a discussion with Ian Green, Chair of Advance.
Meet Advance
We’re Advance….and for forty years we’ve put people at the heart of everything we do.
We support disabled people, people with a mental health condition and people with a learning disability at home, at work or in the community to live the life they choose, however varied or complex that life may be.
People’s lives change, and we’re not afraid to meet changing expectations in flexible, forward-thinking ways: developing a long term housing option to more than 600 people through our shared ownership scheme; offering employment advice that broadens the horizons of people who find it hardest to get a job; or enabling those who services struggle to assist to gain stability and control over their lives through intensive and positive support.
