Position: Project Controller
Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands

SPARK is a dynamic and growing not-for-profit development organization with over 80 staff members that helps young entrepreneurs to start or grow their own businesses. SPARK is achieving its mission by organizing business plan competitions, business skills training, SME coaching and mentoring, business incubation, SME financing, intensive higher vocational summer courses, curriculum development and quality assurance at universities and higher vocational education institutions. *Moreover, SPARK assists post-secondary education institutions to reform their curricula to better meet the needs of the labour markets. Based in Amsterdam, SPARK has field offices in among others Beirut, Belgrade, Bujumbura, Erbil, Gaziantep, Hargeisa, Juba, Kigali, Monrovia, Ramallah, Sana’a and Tunis**.*


SPARK is currently looking to fill the position of:


Project Controller


The Project Controller will provide support to the SPARK Finance & Control department in Amsterdam.


Main tasks and responsibilities


· Developing and analysing SPARK’s Project Reports for management and donors


· Advising management on the financial progress of SPARK’s Projects


· Taking responsibility over the Projects financial management


· Supervising the partner reporting process


· Performing operational and internal audits


· Developing budgets for SPARK’s new projects


· Keeping contact with field offices related to partner and project reporting


· And other ad hoc tasks and responsibilities that come up in the relatively small finance & control team


Requirements and competencies


· Bachelor or Master degree in the field of Finance, Business administration, or related field


· A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position


· Work experience in the International development sector is a pre


· Experience in working with subsidies;


· Accurate, structured and precise;


· Flexible; advisory skills, assertive, proactive


· Strong people- and influencing skills


· Work permit for the Netherlands;


· Good command of Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software


· Good oral and written language skills in English and Dutch required; Arabic and/or French is an advantage


· Good team worker while able to work independently;


· Good communication and social skills and able to work in multicultural setting;


· Good knowledge of financial administrations


SPARK offers


· Contract for 24-32 hours a week for 1 year (with possibility to extend the contract);


· A salary between 2850 and 3650 EUR gross per month (full time), depending on qualifications and experience.
