THE BRITISH SCHOOL IN THE NETHERLANDS: Teacher - Modern Foreign Languages

Teacher – Modern Foreign Languages

We are currently looking to recruit a part-time (65-70%) Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages to join our Senior School Voorschoten Campus. This post is initially to cover a sabbatical leave for one year.

Established back in 1931 The British School in The Netherlands has a tradition of quality. The school was founded on the principles of developing and challenging the whole individual – ‘head, hand & heart’ – producing students with high aspirations and confident independence. With our international setting we instil, in all our students, open-mindedness, tolerance, integrity and an enjoyment of life. If you are motivated by these beliefs please read on.

The successful candidate will join our team of 20 teachers and language assistants within the Modern Foreign Language Faculty. Candidates must be capable of teaching French to post 16 level plus one other language, preferably Spanish.

The Modern Foreign Languages Faculty offers courses in Dutch, German, French and Spanish. Students study all four languages in Year 7 and 8, opt for two in Year 9 and then continue with at least one to GCSE. A substantial number of students opt for two languages in Year 10 and 11. At the Post- 16 stage there are classes at both A level and IB in all languages.

The faculty also runs a vibrant mother tongue enrichment programme and teachers from the Senior School also participate in teaching taster courses at the three Junior Schools.

All departments within the faculty run regular trips abroad, are committed to a communicative approach to language teaching and are currently focused on integrating the use of iPads into our lessons to enhance student learning.

At the BSN we are very lucky to have an enthusiastic and highly professional body of staff who are passionate about children and learning. You can expect to be working with motivated pupils, state of the art facilities and talented teaching professionals, who promote excellence in all aspects of the school. Attractive benefits such as competitive pay, tax concessions, relocation packages, collective health insurance and pension plans also make it worthwhile choosing to work at the BSN.
