SPARK is a dynamic and growing not-for-profit development organization with over 80 staff members that helps young entrepreneurs to start or grow their own businesses. SPARK is achieving its mission by organizing business plan competitions, business skills training, SME coaching and mentoring, business incubation, SME financing, intensive higher vocational summer courses, curriculum development and quality assurance at universities and higher vocational education institutions. Moreover, SPARK assists post-secondary education institutions to reform their curricula to better meet the needs of the labour markets. Based in Amsterdam, SPARK has field offices in among others Beirut, Belgrade, Bujumbura, Erbil, Gaziantep, Hargeisa, Juba, Kigali, Monrovia, Ramallah, Sana’a and Tunis.
SPARK is currently looking to fill the position of:
Finance Officer
The Finance Officer will provide support to the SPARK Finance & Control department in Amsterdam.
Main tasks and responsibilities
· Collect, prepare, coordinate and transfer all payments made from Amsterdam head office;
· Amsterdam office bookkeeping (bank, cash and credit card) and other various administrative tasks, such as:
a) Administer all incoming and outgoing installments;
b) Administer VAT payments;
c) Fixed assets administration;
d) Car reports administration;
e) Exchange rate administration;
· Assist on financial field office and partner monitoring;
· Assist the Finance department on other administrative and financial tasks.
Requirements and competencies
· MBO 4 Financial; HBO/BA (preferred) or a similar education in financial field;
· Experience in a similar position is an advantage;
· Accurate, structured and precise;
· Flexible;
· Work permit for the Netherlands;
· Good command of Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software;
· Good oral and written language skills in English and Dutch. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage;
· Good team worker while able to work independently;
· Good communication and social skills and able to work in multicultural setting;
· Affinity with International Development.
SPARK offers
· Contract for 12-16 hours a week for 1 year (with possibility to extend the contract);
· A salary between 2200 and 2800 EUR Gross per month (based on fulltime employment), depending on qualifications and experience.
