Programme Assistant Intern


Internship for the duration of 6 months, 40 hours a week


The internship is due to start ASAP (April/May 2016)

We have an interesting opening for an active and vibrant individual, who wants to work in a high paced environment. The intern will have the opportunity to develop their skills, gain practical work experience, and familiarise themselves with the multidimensionality of the development field. The programme assistant will provide administrative office support to the director of TI and its staff and consultants. Below is a broad description of activities to be undertaken over the course of the internship.


The intern will:



  • Assist in identifying and writing tender documents;




  • Assist in the acquisition of new contracts;




  • Assist in writing and formatting reports;




  • Contribute to ongoing assignments in terms of conducting background research and literature reviews, analysing data, and translating data in user-friendly formats;




  • Manage information and project cycles;




  • Prepare missions for the director and consultants in terms of travel, visas, flights etc.;




  • Contribute to the marketing of TI as a firm;




  • Prepare training materials;




  • Support of office management procedures, including but not limited to answering the phone and email enquiries, maintaining office supplies, coordinating office meetings;




  • Assist TI staff and consultants with ad hoc administrative tasks;




  • Other related duties as assigned.



Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, Bachelor’s degree is acceptable if the candidate has relevant work experience;




  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills;




  • Fluent in French, with excellent English writing and communication skills;




  • Dutch language skills (preferable);




  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, PowerPoint and Excel;




  • Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities;




  • A driving license;




  • Ability to live and work in the Netherlands for a period of at least six months;




  • Attention to detail;




  • Strong analytical skills;




  • Passion for international development;




  • Being committed to TI aims and values




  • Experience with SPSS is desirable.



TI offers an informal, innovative and dynamic learning environment. Free housing is provided at our intern flat in Landgraaf (NL) and lunch is provided at the office. No payments will be made under this contract.


Requirements:


Please be aware that non-EU citizens need a visa to stay more than 90 days in the Netherlands. Transition International is not in a position to help the intern obtain a visa. As such, any non-EU candidate applying for this position should be able to obtain a valid visa for 6 months.
